The Civil Court Users Association (CCUA)

Founded in 1988, the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) is a non-commercial membership organisation working for an efficient, effective, fair and proportionate civil court service for all in England & Wales.

CCUA’s aim is clear: to positively influence and lobby for improvements in County Court and High Court services and performance in relation to commercial and civil litigation matters including debt recovery, insolvency, dispute resolution and more. We do this by highlighting pressing issues faced by our members (civil court users), putting forward suggestions and ideas, and offering scrutiny and constructive criticism to accelerate and elevate reform.

We act as a consolidated and respected voice on behalf of our members and focal point for communication between them and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) and the Association of His Majesty’s District Judges. As a result of years of relationship building, we now have the opportunity to respond to proposed government reform on behalf of members at an earlier stage before change is implemented.

We also work in close collaboration with relevant bodies and organisations such as High Court Enforcement Officers Association (HCEOA), Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM), Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG) Civil Enforcement Association (CIVEA) and Credit Services Association (CSA), to ensure a joined-up approach across the whole legal and financial services landscape.

The CCUA acts as the secretariat for the County Court Bulk Centre (CCBC) User Group, The Creditor Recoveries Liaison Group (CRLG), and the Enforcement Law Review Group (ELRG); a cross-industry non-policy making Discussion Forum chaired by Lord Lucas which includes the debt advice sector.
