Ministry of Justice has been consulting on regulation of the debt enforcement sector.

This consultation invited views on how to ensure that there is independent oversight of firms that employ enforcement agents and High Court Enforcement Officers to enforce debts using the Taking Control of Goods procedure in England and Wales.

The Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) is in favour of the establishment of a statutory independent regulator but is concerned to ensure that any such regulator is appropriately funded to fulfil its remit and that its objectives and aims are commensurate with proportionate regulation.
