Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) has responded to the Enforcement Conduct Board’s consultation on Standards for Enforcement work and oversight model.
The CCUA has always been a strong supporter of the formation and work of the Enforcement Conduct Board. It is the Association’s belief that many of the allegations made against enforcement firms are probably without foundation or embellished, but also inevitably that some proportion of them will have some degree of merit. Without independent oversight, there is no way to discern the exact picture to the satisfaction of different
parties, which only leads to increased concern and distrust.
It is the Association’s hope that the ECB will provide clarity to this picture. This will be to the advantage of all concerned parties and hence why the CCUA fully supports this initiative. At the same time though, CCUA members do sincerely hope that the ECB remains keenly focused on proportionality and the concept of justice.
