HM Government, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has published a call for evidence on its proposed private parking code of practice.
Rob Thompson, Chair of the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) in its response to the call of evidence, says:
“The Association is extremely concerned by the proposal to limit or remove debt recovery charges. Whilst this may be well intentioned, we believe that this could risk a huge increase in claims being brought into the court system. The court system is currently on its knees with huge delays and arrears, still struggling to recover since the COVID pandemic. This could increase delays and break the entire system, preventing access to justice to the detriment of all court users.”
