The Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) is delighted to have been invited to work in close collaboration with His Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) as they start work on the next phase of digitalising the remainder of the County Court.

Representatives of HMCTS recently met with members of the CCUA’s senior leadership team to share an overview of progress to date and to hear the CCUA’s perspectives. This feedback which will be considered by HMCTS as the project moves forward.

Several of the CCUA’s Members, representing a variety of bulk users of the County Court, have volunteered to support the process. The group includes creditors, solicitors, utility companies, debt purchasers, High Court enforcement companies and not-for-profit organisations.

The diversity of the group will help to ensure as many stakeholders as possible are represented in the process. Members will contribute to shaping the future of digital county court services to ensure they are workable and fit for purpose going forward.

The next stage will involve the Research team from HMCTS engaging with the CCUA Members who have volunteered to take part in the initiative.

Neil Jinks, Chair of the CCUA, said:

“At the CCUA Conference in 2025, HMCTS’ Operations Director stated that the CCUA is one of their principal and most important stakeholders. He acknowledged our ongoing dialogue about how the courts operate, the ways in which they can be improved in terms of the service provided and all manner of issues.

“It is only through true collaboration and our ongoing discussions that we can ensure that any changes being brought in are fit for purpose and enable our members and the courts to work effectively and be better together.”
