Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) is receiving reports from our Members of large numbers of post having been delivered incorrectly by HM Courts & Tribunal Service (HMCTS), including both Claim Forms and Judgments.

This includes total 3,000 CCJs in default sent to claimants instead of defendants, plus a smaller number of new claims, all of which appear to have been issued on 3 July 2024 and posted on 4 July 2024. The full extent of the issue is not yet clear.

CCUA has queried this urgently with HMCTS and received the following response:

“HMCTS have been made aware of an issue resulting in some claim forms and judgments being served on the Claimant instead of the Defendant. This is being investigated by the supplier and we will provide you with a further update in due course.”

CCUA has been promised that a plan to rectify the situation will be shared very shortly.
