The Met Office has issued a Red Extreme Heat Warning for Wednesday 24 (today) and Thursday 25 June 2026, which covers much of Southern and Central England, as well as parts of Wales.

The forecast will likely bring heat-related issues to public health and infrastructure and across sectors such as transport, energy and water supply.

While the red weather alert is in place, non-urgent county court bailiff work in impacted areas will be paused. Normal service is expected to resume from Friday 26 June 2026 when temperatures have been forecast to ease.

There is also a high likelihood of changes to listed in person hearings on 24 and 25 June at Bristol Civil and Family Justice Centre. Wherever possible, hearings are being converted from in-person to remote. The Listing Teams are currently reviewing cases and will contact parties directly with any updates.

We have asked whether this may also apply in other areas of the country. Please check with your hearing centres before travelling over the next few days.
