Some months ago the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA) wrote to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to request that a review be conducted regarding enforcement fees. The letter was also signed on behalf of two other Associations who did not want to make their involvement public at that time.

The letter pointed out that when enforcement fees were previously set, there was strong support for regular inflationary reviews. Despite that, there has been no review or increase for years.

The CCUA was very happy to sign the letter. It is only correct that firms providing a service are properly remunerated. This is important not only for those firms, but all who are touched by their actions, to ensure that it remains possible to provide a service which is fair, proportionate, efficient and effective. Inadequate resourcing helps nobody who is involved with, or touched by, enforcement.

We are very pleased that the three signatories have now received the letter, committing the Ministry to reviewing enforcement fees, and the situation more generally, over the winter.
